The green economy has tremendous potential to positively transform our communities, sustain the environment and lift the quality of all our lives. But this won’t happen by chance. We must work to ensure that equity--gender, racial and economic equity--is central to green principles and practice. Currently, white men make up 70 to 90 percent of the workforce in green sectors. This workshop explores how racial and gender equity strategies can be implemented and enforced to ensure that the green economy is one that benefits all. From framing the green economy in an equitable manner to crafting an inclusive green job training program, this workshop will provide green practitioners, community and labor organizers, and elected officials with concrete tools, reports and strategies to build an equitable, green economy.
