Demand an open investigation!

Enough is enough. The Berkeley Police Review Commission (PRC) has been warned by the Berkeley Police Association (BPA), in a letter addressed to Chief Hambleton, that it is prepared to pursue court action in order to prevent the PRC from questioning officers about recent cases of drug use, theft, and mishandling of evidence within the department.

Yes, you read that right.

Now, I hope this sounds as outrageous to you as it does to me! What is a civilian review board for if not to monitor the actions of the police department? Do we not have a right to know the type of individuals who are patrolling our streets? The PRC’s subcommittee on Evidence Theft issues is not investigating individual officer conduct; it is conducting an inquiry into whether the current policies provide adequate safeguards against corruption.

It does not sit well with me that the BPA is actively trying to stop this. What are they trying to hide? Isn’t the goal of everyone to have a police department free of corruption? Do we all not want to do everything in our power to ensure that we have officers who hold morality and ethics in high regard?

So why attempt to thwart an independent investigation into the recent cases?

On Thursday May 3rd at 5:30 pm, at the South Berkeley Senior Center, Chief Hambleton will be speaking at the next meeting of the subcommittee. All are invited to attend the meeting, consider the questions, and as Andrea Prichett of Berkeley Copwatch stated, “get to know the REAL story of how Berkeley is policed.”

Maybe the fairly recent Corporate ” Culture Change ” at Berkley University is an Indicator of what You are Now Dealing with now…

LOL, a police department free of corruption.

The RCMP Canada’s Federal Government Police Force “looked into” their own affairs for years in the pension corruption where money was siphoned off to friends and family.

    “Internal committees, investigations, inquiries”

Code words for let’s cover this up and make sure nobody talks about it.
    Good Luck

I have friends who were harrassed and put in jail for no apparent reason by the san jose police. I need to get the message out that good citizen and honest people are being harrassed by the san jose police officers. I know that this message board was not meant for this type of information, but I couldn’t find a way to contact your organization. My friends name are “Stacey Pennywell” and “Stefani Pennywell” Stacey’s phone numbers (650) 215-0650 and Stefani’s number is (650) 215-3329. Please help me find the right organization that I can tell my side of the story to. Thank you for hearing me out. If you need to get ahold of either girls you can reach them at the phone numbers that’s listed above.
