Become a Member of the Ella Baker Center!

Our vision: To create a national, grassroots membership base that provides an opportunity for anyone, anywhere to join the movement to end criminalization, mass incarceration, and state violence. Like our namesake Ella Baker, we believe in the power of ordinary people to create change and community-driven solutions.

Members of the Ella Baker Center believe that every person has the right to dignity, safety, self-determination, and equality, and share a commitment to building the power and leadership of incarcerated people, formerly incarcerated people, victims and survivors of law enforcement abuse, and their families.

Our annual membership dues start at $24 a year ($2 a month). To enable all of us to be at the table, we encourage members who can to contribute more. No one is turned away due to lack of funds.
