Support the Green Jobs Act of 2007

Authorize $125 million in federal funds for job training programs in green sectors like energy efficient buildings and construction, renewable electricity, energy efficient vehicles, and more.
Train 35,000 workers in clean and green industries.
Provide green pathways out of poverty for young adults with barriers to employment, displaced workers, and veterans.

(Enter your message here:) I am asking you to support the Green Jobs Act of 2007, HR 2847, a bill supported by the Center for American Progress, the Sierra Club, MoveOn.org, ColorOfChange.org, the Workforce Alliance, the Ella Baker Center, the Apollo Alliance, and many other leading organizations. The emerging green economy holds great promise for America’s businesses and workforce -- particularly if people have access to training for the green-collar jobs needed to build that economy. Every aspect of clean energy development, from manufacturing to construction to operating and maintenance, can create good jobs, clean up the air and water, and save consumers money on their energy bills. And every city and community in the United States has some potential to capitalize on this new economy. But this economy will not grow without a trained workforce. The Green Jobs Act, sponsored by Representatives Hilda Solis (D-CA) and John Tierney (D-MA), would create the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Worker Training Program within the Workforce Investment Act. This program would be funded at $125 million and twenty percent of the program’s funding would be dedicated to services that create pathways out of poverty for low-income adults. This bill could do great things for our community. Please support the Green Jobs Act of 2007!
